About UsTeam Philippines is a project incorporating members from St Barnabas Broadway Sydney church and the University of Notre Dame, Sydney.
We travel to the community of Calauan, Philippines to provide medical treatment and maintain community projects that have been developed to enhance the lives of the local people. We travel twice a year with a holistic health approach to provide basic needs for a community living in poverty.

Dr Charlotte Hespe
TEAM LEADER Charlotte Hespe has been working in General Practice in Inner City Glebe, Sydney for the last 20 years, 17 years as a Principal of a 18 Doctor Group Practice. Charlotte has also been actively engaged with working in both governance and teaching / education roles since 2000. She is currently Vice President of the RACGP and Chair for NSW/ACT Faculty and Director for Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN). As well as her clinical work, Charlotte works part time as Associate Professor, Head of General Practice and Primary Care Research at the University of Notre Dame Australia, School of Medicine Sydney (UNDA). In 2013, as a joint initiative with St Barnabas Broadway, Care Channels and Calvary Christian Fellowship, Charlotte launched the Team Philippines initiative with first and second year medical students from UNDA. The project has subsequently grown to include Medical students from across all 4 years of the MD post graduate program and Dental students from the School of Dentistry, Sydney University. The project has dual goals - to improve the long term health of the population we serve in Calauan, Laguna, Philippines and to introduce Australian Medical students and Dental students to a hands on experience of holistic health care in an impoverished rural setting and enhance their understanding of the role for long term social justice projects. |
