Kristie-Lee looks forward to expanding the programme with the purchase of invaluable dental equipment and the introduction of Charles Sturt and Sydney University students. Kristie-Lee hopes to develop a sustainable dental programme with less focus on relief of pain through extractions and more focus on restorations and prevention.
The dental team continues to work on treatment tooth decay as well as focusing on preventive strategies in our resource poor community where high levels of sugar intake are of a great health and dental concern. The team focuses on four broad areas:
- Dental health education for adults and children
- Distribution of toothbrushes and education on how to brush teeth
- Dental cleaning and examination
- Dental extractions and treatment to prevent further infective damage
